OUR GRANDAD

Everyone loves there granddad , that's true, you hear people say they see them now and again, receive birthday cards etc, but with our granddad, he was part of everyone’s everyday life. We are going to miss our granddad so much, his smile, his jokes and his endless love, we have so many good memories - so many we could write a book.
From when Anthony the first grandchild was born 37 yrs ago Friday nights and Saturday mornings has been us grandkids staying in my nans. I think everyone of us could tell a tale about what we would do on Friday night, I can remember our Faye painting my granddads toe nails and we forgot he had to go to the hospital, the nurse could see the funny side of it -Nan wasn't very happy!!! we would all be in the one bed and in the end Granddad would sleep in the little bed , never ever did he moan . Saturday morning would be a trip to town and macdonald.Guarenteed if we wanted anything we would come home with it!
I could stand for hours on end and talk about the memories of my Granddad for example going to the caravan in Wales, holidays abroad from camping in South of France when Anthony was 2yrs old to Disney world , Egypt , Spain , Turkey and for my 18th birthday my best present was Nan and granddad took me and Faye to New York. The funniest holiday was when my Nan and granddad took me and our Rebecca to Benidorm and my Granddad almost ended up boxing in the airport, I wouldn't mind but it was his own fault for jumping the queue.
Our Granddad was the funniest man I knew, even up until the day he went in the hospital, the paramedics were wrapping him up and he said "Lets hope we don't get the weather you' re expecting". When he got the lift fitted in the house, he would say to everyone who come in "I'm interviewing for a lift attendant she's got to be 25 and blonde". Talking about his lift, on behalf of all of the family I would like to thank the carers who came to my granddad every morning, my granddad thought a lot of them and always praised them. Once again my granddad would have them laughing as he was coming down in the lift he would be saying "First floor C and A men's clothing!" always laughing coming from the bathroom.
The kids loved granddads lift, Brody and James would stand waiting for him and I can remember our Thomas waiting for him with his doctors coat on his stethoscope and bag pretending he was the doctor
Granddad was the life and soul of every party, and he was a great jiver I have seen videos of him dancing with Rose, Teresa and our Edna's special song was 8 days a week, granddad loved the Beatles
When he was younger, my Granddad used to work on the buses, and everything that happened with my granddad a story comes with it. When people would get on the bus and ask if he stopped at the Pier Head, his reply would be “Well if we don’t there will be a terrible splash”. But my favourite was him taking a detour with passengers on the number 26 bus , granddad had forgotten his ciggies so he drove the bus up Gwendoline street and stopped outside his house. My Nan said she looked out her bedroom window and a women was on the top deck looking back in at her.

My granddad was the most amazing and loving man we all knew. He worshipped the ground my nan walked on, they never left each other’s side. When he first got into the hospital on New Year's Eve he said to the nurse, they had been married 57 years and not a day to long and that she was his only love. He loved my Nan that much that one Christmas, my Nan burnt the custard on the trifle, and he ate it because he didn’t want to offend her. True love at its finest!

From all the family I want to thank the group of volunteers who took my Nan and Granddad around Lourdes, he spoke so highly of youse and you all made his last holiday a special one.
I think I can speak for all his grandchildren we are so heartbroken losing our granddad, for me I am so grateful that he spent 9 weeks with our amazing Mila and I can’t wait for her to be old enough to tell her the endless stories we all have.
Grandad you held our hand when we was small, You caught us when we fell
You're the hero of our childhood and our later years as well
Every time we think of you our hearts fill with pride
though we will always miss you granddad we know your by our sides
In laughter and in sorrow in sunshine and through rain
we know you're watching over us until we meet again

Granddad, you were the best husband, dad, granddad and friend. We love you more than you will ever know. Goodnight God bless.
